2022 was a big year for me! The biggest surprise being that I got ENGAGED! ✨ And, somehow, I anticipate 2023 will be just as busy. Between planning my wedding and studying for my professional exam, there is a lot to keep me on my toes over the next 12 months!
With all my responsibilities this year, it has been hard to prioritize blogging as much as I maybe would have wanted to. Because , even when I wasn’t that busy it was sometimes hard to motivate myself to post because I was feeling uninspired. I never want this blog to feel like a burden, so making sure that I took time away from it and only posted when I was really feeling motivated was so important for me this past year. Yes, this meant I posted less, but I think it was worth it in the end.

Here we are, already a week into 2023! Honestly, the past couple of weeks have gone by in a blur. I feel like I’m still trying to get my bearings from the end of the holiday season… Just in time to jump right back into work and real life winding up again.
Let’s just say the holiday “break” wasn’t really that much of a break. 🙃 My trip got cut in half due to all the craziness at the airport, which means I didn’t do everything I hoped to, and there was a lot of additional stress surrounding the trip. Not that I should be complaining, because it was so nice to see my family and catch up with everyone.
Not only that, but I am in the middle of planning my wedding! 💍💕 Which is super exciting (but also pretty stressful). The wedding will be in my hometown, so the entire trip was mostly spent figuring out those logistics. But I got A LOT sorted, which definitely elevates some stress. And honestly, it was very fun to visit the venue, start vision boarding the decorations, and pick out my dress!

How is it already December? I feel like 2022 has just whizzed right by. It’s hard to believe it’ll be a whole new year in less than 4 weeks.
Are you excited for the holiday season? I know I, for one, am. The yummy food and drinks, the break from work, getting to spend time with my friends and family from near and far. What’s not to love?
I jumped on the holiday hype train pretty early this year. I think just with the stress of work and the busyness of life, it’s been nice to contemplate a time when things slow down, and seeing your loved ones is your only priority. We decorated our tree and hung our stockings the other week, and have spent the past couple of weekends shopping at cute stores and local craft markets to pick out lots of gifts. And between drinking lots of peppermint hot chocolate or warm cranapple cider, eating sugar cookies, and prepping my gingerbread cookie dough, it’s felt pretty holiday-y in my house. ⛄️🎄✨

Brr, brr, brr! ❄️ I don’t know about where you live – but as I write this my weather app reads -20℃ and I am feeling it. Luckily I’ve got my fireplace roaring, a cozy blanket on top of me, and a kitty purring in my lap. 🥰 The perfect spot to get in some good reading!
That’s definitely one thing about the cold – it makes it so much more appealing to stay in and read (not that I need convincing).
Unfortunately, with the way things have been going for me right now, there hasn’t been a ton of time to spend reading (or reviewing 🙈). At least not physical books! My work has been a little hectic, not gonna lie, but because of that – and the ridiculous weather – I’ve been spending a lot of time in my car lately…. which means I’ve had the opportunity to listen to a lot of audiobooks!

Hold onto your flannel blankets and grab those pumpkin-spiced lattes… Because cozy season is officially upon us! 🍂☕️🧣🧡✨
Are you a big fan of fall? I sure am. And I’m very glad it’s finally here! Despite working in schools, summertime is not my favorite time of the year (though I have to admit, I do enjoy the vacation 😎). That most coveted spot is reserved solely for autumn. The beautiful colors, perfect weather for sweaters, pumpkin-flavored everything – what’s a basic girl like me supposed to do? 😍
The fall does bring with it the start of a new school year… And now that I work full-time in the education sector, a whole lot of stress. My role has changed this year – and brought with it some new responsibilities – so I am acutely feeling the ramp-up of work right now. But (I hope) I’m up to the challenge! 💪 (Check in with me in a few weeks to be certain… 🙈)
