The Epic Story of Every Living Thing by Deb Caletti: Blog Tour & Author Interview

First of all, thank you so much for letting me interview you! Iโ€™ve been a fan of your work since I was 13 years old and picked up Honey, Baby, Sweetheart for the first time (quickly followed by the rest of your catalog). What is your biggest motivator for writing books for teens?

Ahhh! Thank you so much for connecting to my books over the years. Hearing from readers whoโ€™ve grown up with me just seriously fills my heart. Being part of your lives like this, being able to (maybe, just maybe!) be a guide or an outreached hand through my work, are my biggest motivators. Iโ€™ve always wanted to give my readers what books have given me โ€“ understanding, refuge, and a sense of being seen. I think younger readers particularly need this.

July & August 2022: Summer Monthly Wrap-Up

Hold onto your flannel blankets and grab those pumpkin-spiced lattes… Because cozy season is officially upon us! ๐Ÿ‚โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿงฃ๐Ÿงกโœจ

Are you a big fan of fall? I sure am. And I’m very glad it’s finally here! Despite working in schools, summertime is not my favorite time of the year (though I have to admit, I do enjoy the vacation ๐Ÿ˜Ž). That most coveted spot is reserved solely for autumn. The beautiful colors, perfect weather for sweaters, pumpkin-flavored everything – what’s a basic girl like me supposed to do? ๐Ÿ˜

The fall does bring with it the start of a new school year… And now that I work full-time in the education sector, a whole lot of stress. My role has changed this year – and brought with it some new responsibilities – so I am acutely feeling the ramp-up of work right now. But (I hope) I’m up to the challenge! ๐Ÿ’ช (Check in with me in a few weeks to be certain… ๐Ÿ™ˆ)

Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag 2022

Yes, it has been a hot minute since I last completed a book tag, and no, it is no longer technically the “middle” of the year anymore. But the urge to complete the mid-year book freak-out tag hit me in full force today, and I thought it would be a fun way to review all the reading I’ve managed to do so far in 2022.

So, without any further ado, let’s get to it! โœจ

Within These Wicked Walls by Lauren Blackwood: ARC Book Review

Within These Wicked Walls tells the story of Andromeda, a young woman who goes by Andi. When the story begins, she is hoping that exorcising the Evil Eye for her wealthy and eccentric client, Magnus Rochester, will get her the recognition she requires to continue her work as a proper debtera; since her mentor threw her out before she could earn her license.

But cleansing the Evil Eye is a much bigger undertaking than Andi first anticipated. (So much so that many debtera have tried – and failed – before her.) And her growing feelings for the young heir complicate matters further. It will take all of Andi’s training – and maybe a little help from others – to accomplish this life-threatening task.

Unlock Your Storybook Heart by Amanda Lovelace: ARC & Series Review

As a fan of the previous two installments in this series (you can find my review for them here), I was definitely intrigued when I saw Unlock Your Storybook Heart: the third and final book in the You Are Your Own Fairy Tale series. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ’•

Not only is Beauty and the Beast one of my favorite fairy tales from my childhood (a bookish princess, hello?), but I myself have dealt with what used to be crippling perfectionism, so I was very invested in this poetry collection from the get-go.
